Genossenschaft Migros Zürich (GMZ) is one of the ten regional Migros cooperatives and employs several thousand people in the Zurich area. The annual salary review is correspondingly demanding: managers and HR professionals have to record, review and approve thousands of salary adjustments — traceably, within budget and under the strictest requirements for protecting compensation data.

Together with GMZ, SoftForge developed a tailor-made Power App that covers the entire approval process of the annual salary review — in two stages, with bulk changes, smart filters and real-time budget control. The tool is tailored to GMZ’s compensation system and is used by managers and HR professionals alike.

Printed salary lists and a paper-based approval workflow
The annual salary review was handled on paper: salary lists had to be printed, distributed and physically passed on for each approval stage. With several thousand employees, this meant a great deal of manual effort, a history that was hard to trace and a format that was anything but ideal for sensitive compensation data.

SoftForge developed a tailor-made Power App that covers the complete approval process of the salary review: in two stages, with bulk changes, smart filters and real-time budget control. Data security is ensured by end-to-end encryption and individual permissions — sensitive information is accessible exclusively through the app and is decrypted on the client side.
