Customer & project

Around 11,500 employees, one collaboration platform

The customer

BKW Gruppe

BKW is an internationally active energy and infrastructure company headquartered in Bern. It employs around 11,500 people and offers services in energy, building technology and infrastructure. In an organisation of this size, the quality of internal collaboration matters — and with it the question of how Microsoft 365 teams, groups and sites are created, named, assigned permissions and eventually decommissioned.

The project

SoftForge Cockpit for Microsoft 365 provisioning

BKW has put SoftForge Cockpit into operation to optimise the provisioning of its Microsoft 365 environment. The platform enables central, efficient management of Microsoft 365 teams — integrated into Microsoft Teams and optionally also provided via SharePoint Online. With it, BKW has reached a further milestone in the digital transformation of its internal collaboration platforms.

What has changed for BKW

✕ Initial situation

Teams, groups and sites without a central overview

At this scale, provisioning of the Microsoft 365 environment could no longer be managed centrally: employees had no shared overview of the groups and sites relevant to them, new workspaces were created without consistent templates and naming conventions, and getting to Teams channels, SharePoint pages or document folders meant constantly switching between applications.

✓ Solution

SoftForge Cockpit as the central hub for Microsoft 365

An intuitive dashboard provides a central overview of all relevant groups and sites. Authorised users request new groups via self-service and have them provisioned automatically — including predefined templates, naming conventions and approval processes. Teams channels, SharePoint pages or individual document folders can be opened directly from SoftForge Cockpit.

Customer benefits

Self-service for employees, governance for the organisation

SoftForge Cockpit supports the entire lifecycle of M365 groups and sites, from creation to archiving or deletion. Integrated governance features with Microsoft Sensitivity Labels ensure that information security, compliance and data protection policies are consistently observed.
