Do you know the most common misconceptions and prejudices about low-code development with Power Apps?

Having developed numerous Power Apps and gained valuable hands-on experience along the way, we would like to clear up some widespread misconceptions and prejudices about Power Apps in this article.

Prejudice: Power Apps are ugly. The UI is limited and not responsive
With the new responsive layouts and modern controls, you can create appealing and intuitive user interfaces
Misconception: anyone can build Power Apps. Developers are superfluous
In practice, we find that architectural mistakes caused by a lack of basic knowledge often lead to problems in the following areas: slow as data volumes grow - data is insufficiently protected - lack of maintainability - not intuitive to use
Prejudice: with Power Apps you quickly hit limits. You end up in a dead end and cannot go any further
Even after numerous implementations, we have not come across any insurmountable limits. What matters is that limits are addressed correctly in the solution design. Code components help if you really do hit a dead end.
Prejudice: Power Apps are expensive. Custom development is cheaper.
Running Power Apps is already included in most Microsoft 365 licences. Cost savings through automation and efficiency require a long-term view and a Power Platform strategy. Costs are saved not only through faster development but also through easier customisation in operation.
